Porcelain dental veneers have become very advanced over the years, and it’s now possible to apply them without sacrificing too much of the affected tooth’s natural structure.
They can improve a number of dental issues, both aesthetic and functional in nature.
In fact, porcelain veneers can even reverse the effects of aging and perfect natural beauty. Dental veneers are very thin layers of porcelain shells (0,3-0,8mm) that are made to cover the surface of the teeth to enhance their look.
They are used to fix teeth that are discoloured, chipped or broken or irregularly shaped. They are also used to cover the gaps between the teeth.
A very thin layer Procedure
The most important appointment before we start the treatment. During the first visit we collect all the necessary data like pictures of the face and smile, x-rays and impressions of the teeth that will help us to make the treatment plan and design the smile.
We prepare the teeth by removing a thin layer (0,3-0,8mm) from the front surface of the tooth, to gain space for the porcelain dental veneer to be placed. After we prepare the teeth, we take impressions and all the necessary records, choose the colour and we make the temporary veneers.
On third appointment the dental veneers are ready to be cemented on the teeth. For that reason we use high strength cements that secure the porcelain veneers on the teeth.
